BART’S BLOG – MARCH/APRIL 2024

Welcoming New Faces to the PAC Family!

I’m thrilled to introduce two fantastic additions to the PAC team: Kathy Zseger, our new PAC Secretary, and Brandon Stearsman, our new PAC Custodian, who both hit the ground running in January. Let’s give them a warm welcome and get to know them a little better.

Kathy Zseger – PAC Secretary: A familiar face in the Hardin County community, Kathy brings over 17 years of experience within the Hardin County Schools family. Her journey in early childhood education and care has been incredibly rewarding, fostering strong bonds with many families in the area. However, Kathy’s lifelong passion for the arts has led her to take on the role of secretary at the HCS Performing Arts Center. Kathy, her husband Steven, and her daughter Krystal share a deep love for the local community and arts scene. You might spot them exploring small businesses, attending art fairs, or enjoying live music around town. With her wealth of experience and dedication, Kathy will surely be an invaluable asset to our team.

Brandon Stearsman – PAC Custodian: Returning to his roots in Hardin County after over a decade in Bowling Green, Brandon is no stranger to the local theater scene. Brandon’s passion for theater shines through from his involvement both onstage and backstage with various theater groups to his seat on the Board of Directors at The Hardin County Playhouse. When he’s not immersed in the world of theater, Brandon enjoys spending quality time with his wife and two boys, indulging in video games, board games, and tabletop role-playing games with loved ones. His enthusiasm for supporting the growth of local theater is contagious, and we’re thrilled to have him on board as our new PAC Custodian.

A Special Thanks: As we welcome Kathy and Brandon, we can’t help but express gratitude for our recently retired PAC Secretary, Diane Hafer. Diane’s dogged dedication and northern charm have left an indelible mark on our community, and we’re grateful for her continued support as a volunteer.

Join us in extending a warm welcome to Kathy and Brandon as they embark on this new chapter with us at the PAC. We’re excited to see the energy and talent they bring to our team!

PAC Spotlight

This month, the PAC Spotlight shines on Elizabethtown Independent Schools Director of Arts Education, Carmen Caldera-Brzoska, and senior Kate Shirts.

What have been your most rewarding PAC experiences?

  • CARMEN: My children are all very involved at The PAC. They all enjoy different aspects of technical theatre, and it is a joy to watch them experience something that was such an important part of my childhood and adolescence. Their experiences with me at the EPAC and with Bart and Aaron at the PAC have greatly influenced their career paths.
  • KATE: I absolutely loved performing in the PAC’s Beauty and the Beast production. That show taught me so much about performance and working together to create an amazing production, and it was some of the most fun I’ve ever had doing a show! Performing with the Youth Theatre of Hardin County has also been incredibly rewarding, as I was able to work with my talented close friends!

Why should the PAC be important to others?

  • CARMEN: The performing arts are the foundation of every culture from the beginning of time. Having a place in our community to experience and participate in the arts is critical to any community. The arts are for everyone at every age. I love that every time I am there, I see families in the audience, families working together backstage, and often together on stage as well.
  • KATE: Watching an onstage performance is a wonderful experience, and the PAC makes it possible to bring great onstage productions to our area in a really nice space! Theatre brings people together and creates a beautiful sense of community!
