BART’S BLOG – SEPTEMBER 2017

Much of the music in this month’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame will be instantly recognizable to our audiences from the Disney film of the same name but this stage adaptation uses those songs in the deeper context of the original Victor Hugo novel.

Through the music and ideas of the Hugo novel, issues central to our understanding of human nature are explored in a deeply romantic swashbuckling tale with lessons for us all to learn no matter our age.  The story is more than historical.  It is universal. It’s messages are relevant to you and me and the world we live in and the decisions each of us makes every day.

I encourage you to come and discuss the show afterward.  I encourage church groups to come and discuss the show at Sunday school that weekend.  I encourage students to come and discuss in the cafeteria the next day.  I encourage friends to come and discuss the show over a beverage that evening. I encourage lovers to come and discuss before going to bed.  But mostly, I encourage families to come and to discuss the show on their way home.

This month the PAC Kid Spotlight shines on Anabeth Johnson. Her size and youth belay the strength of her talents as can be seen and heard in The Hunchback of Notre Dame this month at the PAC.  Learn more about Anabeth and our other PAC Kids.
