BART’S BLOG – JANUARY 2023

Now’s the time to make a resolution and a reservation!

As we look back on the year past, we resolve to do better and achieve more. These same aspirations are at the heart of this month’s PAC ProAm dramedy, The Skin of Our Teeth.

Laugh along as humanity, represented by the Antrobus family, fumbles their way through one apocalypse after the next, learning just enough to survive the next hysterical and historical disaster of Biblical proportions.

Thornton Wilder, known these days mainly for Our Town and Hello Dolly, broke nearly every established theatrical convention when he wrote this play between world wars one and two. And in doing so set the stage for absurdist plays such as Waiting for Godot and TV shows such as Family Guy.

Whether you identify with the play’s recurring themes of:

  • Rebirth and rebuilding;
  • Humanity’s propensity to be plagued by disasters, both natural and man-made; or
  • How art and literature advance human nature by enhancing our understanding of empathy, tolerance, and vision while
  • Technological improvement doesn’t necessarily advance human nature at all;

You’ll find The Skin of Our Teeth a timeless and timely tragicomic allegory of humanity’s ability to cling to hope even when all seems hopeless.

Make a New Year’s resolution today to join us this January at the PAC for something Wilder! Tickets for The Skin of Our Teeth are on sale now.
