JUNE 2023

On May 31, June 2 & 4th, 94 HCS and 18 Non-HCS students with Center Stage Dance Studio under the direction of Yvonne Groves, presented three recitals before audiences totaling 1,185. 

On June 3, the PAC held  AUDITION WORKSHOPS with the help of Hannah Pruitt, director of creative engagement for Kentucky Shakespeare. By popular demand, the PAC invited Kentucky Shakespeare to conduct “Scare Away Stage Fright” audition workshops in preparation for the PAC’s ProAm auditions to be held in mid-June. Workshops focused on vocal projection, cold reading skills, and general confidence in any audition situation.  19 HCS and 13 Non-HCS students and 6 adults attended the workshops.

Beginning June 5, Youth Theatre of Hardin County started afternoon  rehearsals and morning “Shop Days” to build the set for the July production of OKLAHOMA!. An average of 7 cast members worked from 11 – 3 helping to build and paint a porch and windows for the house and other set pieces under the direction of Aaron Taylor.

On June 8,  20 HCS and 21 Non-HCS students with Allegro Dance Theatre under the direction of Carol Zagar presented a Summer Camp production of the music of MOANA before an audience of 212.

On June 10, 11, 25 students with the Dance Center of Elizabethtown under the direction of Sherry Barnard presented a musical theatre camp production of 101 DALMATIANS before audiences totaling 256.

On June 16 -19, the PAC held ProAm AUDITIONS. for the fall musical THE SECRET GARDEN and the winter classical CLUE, 29 HCS and 9 Non-HCS students and 50 adults attended the auditions.

Total Served in JUNE: 460 HCS Students, 109 Non-HCS Students, 86 Adults, and  1,188 Audience Members.

Total Served Year to Date: 15,475 HCS Students, 4,951 Non-HCS Students, 5,199 Adults, 22,345 Public Audience Members and 74 Live-stream.

MAY 2023

On May 2, 18 students with John Hardin High School Choir under the direction of Phyllis Westfall presented a Fine Arts Spring Show before an audience of 100.

On May 3, 125 students with  Bluegrass Middle School Band under the direction of Joshua Mitchell presented a concert before an audience of 545.

On May 4, 123  students with West Hardin Middle School Band under the direction of Laura Hedges presented a concert before an audience of 502.

On May 9,  Abound Credit Union Annual held their annual membership meeting before an audience of 417.

On May 11,  85 students with North Hardin High School Choir, under the direction of Cassie Lucas presented a concert before an audience of 333.

On May 13,  22 HCS and 10 NON-HCS students with  Lawson School of Music under the direction of Heather Lawson presented the musical THE SOUND OF MUSIC before an audience of 350.

On May 17,  Hardin County Schools held its monthly Board of Education meeting featuring 62 student recognitions before an audience of 160.

On May 18, 23 students with John Hardin High School Band under the direction of Brian Ellis presented a concert before an audience of 75

On May 20,  110 HCS and 12 Non-HCS students with  The Dance Centre of Elizabethtown under the direction of Sherry Barnard presented spring recitals “Seussical” & “Cakewalk”  before audiences totaling 442. 

On May 21,  20 HCS & 18 Non-HCS students with Lawson School of Music under the direction of Heather Lawson presented a recital before an audience 300.

On May 23,  55 students with Studio One-Eleven under the direction of Katie Bennett presented a recital before an audience of 211.

On May 27-28,    89 HCS and 31 Non-HCS students with Allegro Dance Theatre Under the direction of Carol Zagar presented 3 spring recitals before audiences totaling 707.

On May 31, June 2, 4, 175 students with Center Stage Dance Studio undert the direction of Yvonne Groves presented 3 recitals before audiences totaling 426.

Total Served in MAY: 1,686 HCS Students, 302 Non-HCS Students, 98 Adults, and  4,774 Audience Members.

Total Served Year to Date: 15,357 HCS Students, 4,908 Non-HCS Students, 5,327 Adults, 21,382 Public Audience Members and 74 Live-stream.

APRIL 2023

On April 1,  Aaron Harp Magic presented “GRAND ILLUSION” featuring Master Magician Lance Burton benefiting the Ronald McDonald House before an audience of 318.

On April 18,        53 Elementary and 39 Middle & High Hardin County School Gifted & Talented students participated in a Musical Theatre Intensive.

On April 21, the PAC PRESENTED Kentucky Shakespeare in HAMLET before a school day performance of 440 HCS and 77 Non-HCS students and a public audience of 85

On April 25, the PAC hosted the Hardin County Schools Volunteer Appreciation Banquet. 26 students with North Hardin High School Choirs performed before an audience of 98 volunteers.

On April 28 & 29,  41 HCS and 11 Non-HCS 6th through 8th-grade students participated in AUDITIONS for Youth Theatre of Hardin County’s summer production of OKLAHOMA.

Total Served in APRIL: 599 HCS Students, 90 Non-HCS Students, 57 Adults, and  501 Audience Members.

Total Served Year to Date: 14,288 HCS Students, 4,540 Non-HCS Students, 5,205 Adults, 17,755 Public Audience Members and 44 Live-stream.

MARCH 2023

On March 3, 4,  30 students with Central Hardin High School Drama Club under the direction of Sarah Dakin, presented “Theatre Now: 10-Minute Musicals.” before a  student audience of 60 and public audiences totaling 227.

On March 11, 49 area students with  Youth Theatre of Hardin County presented the last of three Winter Workshops in prep for summer production of OKLAHOMA.

On March 7-12, 25 students with  North Hardin High School Drama Club under the direction of Donna Thomas presented ALICE IN WONDERLAND to public audience of 247.
On March 14-18, 30 students with Allegro Dance Theatre under the direction of Carol Zagar presented 5 school day and 2 public performances of SINGING IN THE RAIN, JR to student audiences totalling 1,617 and public audiences of 401.

On March 21, 53 students with West Hardin Middle School Band under the direction of Laura Hedges presented a Pre-Festival Preview Concert featuring the Derby City Brass Band before an audience of 206.

On March 22, 38 students with Bluegrass Middle School Band under the direction of Joshua Mitchell presented a Pre-Festival Preview Concert.

On March 23, 94 students with Central Hardin High School Band under the direction of Trevor Ervin presented a Pre-Festival Preview Band Concert before an audience of 332.

On March 24, 187 students with East Hardin Middle School Band under the direction of Vanessa Lee presented a Pre-Festival Preview Band Concert.

On March 26, 65 members of Heartland Winds under the direction of David Coffing presented a free concert that included 15 students with Allegro Dance Theatre before an audience of 303.

On March 27-29, 45 bands from 16 counties including Hardin were adjudicated as part of the Kentucky Music Educators Association Band Assessment Festival. John Hardin High School band director Brian Ellis facilitated the festival that featured 538 HCS students and 1,475 Non-HCS students and audiences totaling 1,341. 

Total Served in MARCH: 2,575 HCS Students, 2,151 Non-HCS Students, 289 Adults, and  3,239 Audience Members.

Total Served Year to Date: 13,382 HCS Students, 4,450 Non-HCS Students, 5,144 Adults, and 16,107 Public Audience Members.

FEBRUARY 2023

On February 3, 30 students with Studio OneEleven under the direction of Katie Bennett presented a “Holiday Bash” recital before an audience of 161.

On February 6, 76 students of North Hardin High School Choirs under the direction of Cassie Lucas presented a concert before an audience of 232.

On February 11, 32 HCS students and 11 Non-HCS students participated in a Youth Theatre of Hardin County Drama workshop, the second of three in preparation for a summer production of OKLAHOMA.

On February 16, 40 students with North Hardin High School Advanced Choir under the direction of Cassie Lucas presented the musical CINDERELLA before student audiences of 1,004 HCS and 13 Non-HCS students and public audiences totaling 456.

The February 16th  Hardin County Board of Education Meeting featuring student recognitions was postponed until March 16 due to inclement weather.

On February 24, 25 and 27, 30 students with John Hardin High School Choir under the direction of Phyllis Westfall presented the musical THE 25th ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE before student audiences totaling 694 and public audiences totaling 207.

Total Served in FEBRUARY: 2,286 HCS Students, 24 Non-HCS Students, 48 Adults, and 1,056 Audience Members.

Total Served Year to Date: 10,777 HCS Students, 2,299 Non-HCS Students, 4,852 Adults, and 12,868 Public Audience Members.

JANUARY 2023

On January 14, 42 area youth (40 HCS students and 2 Non-HCS students) participated in the first of three winter workshops presented by Youth Theatre of Hardin County in preparation for their summer musical production of OKLAHOMA.

On January 27, 28, 29, The PAC PRESENTED the ProAm Winter Classical Thornton Wilder’s THE SKIN OF OUR TEETH. The production cast and crew consisted of 20 Adults (5 HCS staff) 12 Students (10 HCS, 2 Non-HCS), 8 Professionals, 24 Amateurs and was performed before audiences totaling 273 including 29 HCS drama students admitted for free.

 

Total Served in JANUARY: 79 HCS Students, 4 Non-HCS Students, 90 Adults, and 273 Audience Members.

Total Served Year to Date: 8,501 HCS Students, 2,265 Non-HCS Students, 4,801 Adults, and 11,812 Public Audience Members.

DECEMBER 2022

On December 1, 125 students with the West Hardin Middle School Band under the direction of Laura Hedges presented a concert before an audience of 484.

On December 2, 24 students with Lawson School of Music under the direction of Heather Lawson presented THE GREAT BIG HOLIDAY BAKE-OFF musical before an audience of 145.

On December 3, 39 members of Heart of KY Men’s Chorus and guest choirs presented a concert before an audience of 267.

On December 4, 15 artists under the direction of Glen Rice presented a holiday concert “Remembering Christmas through the Years” before an audience of 400.

On December 5, 39 students with John Hardin High School Band and Choir under the direction of Brian Ellis and Phyllis Westfall presented a holiday concert before an audience of 127. 

On December 6, 120 students with Central Hardin High School Band under the direction of Trevor Ervin presented a holiday concert before an audience of 416.

On December 8, 59 members of Heartland Winds under the direction of David Coffing presented a holiday concert before an audience of 335. 

On December 11, 68 students with Center Stage Dance Studio under the direction of Yvonne Groves presented a holiday recital before an audience of 427.

On December 16 – 18, THE PAC PRESENTED 64 students and 66 adults (16 professionals & 114 volunteers) with the Dance Center of Elizabethtown under the direction of Sherry Barnard in THE NUTCRACKER before a student audience of 350, public audiences totaling 1789 and a Live stream audience of 11 families in 10 states including CA, FL, IA, KS, LA, MI, MN, TN, TX and KY.

Total Served in December: 951 HCS Students, 221 Non-HCS Students, 529 Adults, and 4,390 Audience Members.

Total Served Year to Date: 8,031 HCS Students, 2,177 Non-HCS Students, 3,931 Adults, 11,539 Public Audience Members.

NOVEMBER 2022

On November 3 – 6,  101 students with North Hardin High School Choirs under the direction of Cassie Lucas presented 4 school day performances and 2 public performances of FROZEN, JR before student audiences of  1,954 and public audiences totaling 970.

On November 12, the PAC presented LEST WE FORGET, with award-winning Singer/Songwriter Tamara Stewart who transformed Kentucky Veterans’ memories into an emotional journey of music. The performance was enjoyed by an audience of 167 and live-streamed to 3 families in Kentucky and one in Australia.

On November 20-22, 52 students with Allegro Dance Theatre under the direction of Carol Zagar presented 4 school day performances and 3 public performances of the 31st annual production of the classical ballet CINDERELLA before student audiences totaling 1,559 and public audiences totaling 518. This event was live-streamed to 24 families in 12 states including AZ, CA, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KY, MA, NY, TN and WI.

Total Served in November: 3,767 HCS Students, 762 Non-HCS students, 75 Adults, and 2,526 Public Audience Members.

Total Served Year to Date: 7,625 HCS Students, 1,606 Non-HCS Students, 3,415 Adults, 6,924 Public Audience Members.

OCTOBER 2022

On October 10, 105 area youth auditioned for 62 roles in Missoula Children’s Theatre’s production of THE JUNGLE BOOK and on Friday and Saturday performed before a student audience of  650 and public audiences totaling 575.

On October 14 & 15, 54 members of the Central Hardin High School Drama Club presented one school and 2 public performances of THE WIZARD OF OZ before student audiences of 549 and public audiences of 482.

On October 27, the John Hardin High School Fine Arts Dept under the direction of Phyllis Westfall and Stephanie Walston presented “A Fine Arts Extravaganza.” 12 Drama students, 13 Choir students, and 21 Visual Arts students participated before an audience of 154. 

Total Served in October: 1,624 HCS Students, 349 Non-HCS students, 30 Adults, and 1,211 Audience Members.

Total Served Year to Date: 3,858 HCS Students, 844 Non-HCS Students, 3,340 Adults, 4,398 Public Audiences.

SEPTEMBER 2022

On September 16th – 25th,  the PAC presented its season opener, the fall ProAm  Disney’s BEAUTY & THE BEAST with 2 school day performances,  2 free performances for event partner Abound Credit Union’s members and 6 public performances. In attendance: 660 HCS students, 155 Non-HCS students, 810 Abound Credit Union Members and, 1,898 public audience members.

Total Served in September: 790 HCS Students, 195 Non-HCS students, 360 Adults, and 2,708 Audience Members.

Total Served Year to Date: 2,234 HCS Students, 495 Non-HCS Students, 3,310 Adults, 3,187 Public Audiences.

AUGUST 2022

The cast and crew of the PAC’s fall ProAm musical Disney’s BEAUTY & THE BEAST have been busy rehearsing since August 1.

On August 8, the PAC hosted John Hardin High School’s “Back to School” Bash. Over 400 students and family members attended.

On August 9,  16 PAC volunteers labeled 9,945 new season brochure postcards in prep for bulk mailing. Thank you Rosetta LaFollette, Kaylie Lafollette, Jerry Cormier, Cindy VanAusdall, Hazel & Dan Lowther, Susan Mazal, Sandy Bousum, Jennifer Sims, Mary Cooney, Michael Radford, Karen Benham, Betty Kirby, Olivia Kizinkiewicz & brand new volunteers Howard Robinson and Michelle Swan-Varble With so many busy hands, the job was finished in one day and in record time, 5 hours.  Thanks to  Vicky Ferriell & Deirdre Shockley who were ready to help on day two but weren’t needed.

On August 12, the PAC hosted Bluegrass Middle School’s “Student Welcome” orientation by Principal Tanya Jury.  554 6th, 7th and 8th grade students were in attendance.

Total Served in August: 554 HCS Students,  58 Adults, 409 Audience Members.

JULY 2022

On July 8 – 17,  45 area students (34 HCS and 11 Non-HCS)  with Youth Theatre of Hardin County presented 7 performances of Disney’s THE LITTLE MERMAID before audiences totaling 2008.

On July 11 & 12, the PAC held auditions for the ProAm musical BEAUTY & THE BEAST and ProAm classical THE SKIN OF OUR TEETH. 29 students (16 HCS and 13 Non-HCS) &  42 adults auditioned for BEAUTY & THE BEAST while 13 students (8 HCS & 5 Non-HCS) & 23 adults auditioned for THE SKIN OF OUR TEETH.

On July 22, Glen Rice/Buffalo Productions presented Glen Rice, Family & Friends Concert Series before an audience of 225.

On July 27, HCS presented a Professional Development event for 190 Preschool and  Pre K teachers featuring Jack Hartmann.

Total Served in July: 306 HCS Students, 106 Non-HCS Students, 91 Adults, 2,556 Audience Members.
